Truth about entrecard

There are some facts on entrecard
1. Entrecard does not bring much traffic as you expected.
According to google analytics, my blog got from entrecard about 100 visit per day. The bounce rate is 93%.
2. Entrecard traffic can not bring money.
According to my google adsense, i got 1$ from the beginning till now from clicks from entrecard. Strange. That is because of high bounce rate and people do not have time to click on real ads :)). Another reason is that entrecard people try to remove ads and images from the blog they visit.
3. People rare comment on blog post or read post.
It is the trouble of entrecard system. You got award only when you drop as much as posible.
If you drop so much, you will be tired and do not want see or read any blogs. I am sure about it.
4. You can be banned very easily.
Many famous bloggers are banned from entrecard. And you should be carefull when your blog has high popularity rank.

Absolutely correct, in fact, I wrote something similar on my blog just recently. I had been spending so much time trying to get traffic through Entrecard and realised that ultimately, it wasn't the kind of traffic I was after anyways.

I'm in the expat catagory (www.iliveherenow.com) and we're a pretty tight nit group, or at least I'd like to think, and I visit the other members there pretty regularly, as I enjoy what they write about, and vice versa. Anyways, I think you're pretty spot on with this post.

My sentiments exactly. I worked hard to get to #1 in my category but in the end, no appreciable increase in revenue... but I suppose the traffic increase was worth something...

Here is what you are failing to realize. If you want to make money from your blog you MUST learn how to create a relationship with your readers.

People buy from and join in business people they know, like and trust. I would rather visit 20 blogs per day and comment on them and begin the relationship process with them than drop on 300 per day. It's not just drop and run. If you drop and run, others will do the same to you. I've received a lot of business from entrecard users. You just have to know how to do it. It's not an automated process. It takes a little work on your part. You may not end up an "expert" however, you will have far more rewards than they do.

I challenge you - Go out there and focus on 10 blogs of bloggers you want to create relationships with. Who cares who is in the expert category and who is not. Comment on 10 blogs per day and then watch your traffic from them and their visitors and so on.

My bog is new and the few hits of traffic I get from any source are appreciated.

I am not a big dropper I do just enough to be able to place some adverts and thats it. Plus when someone wants to run ads on my blog I check out the content on their site first, I want it to be compatible with mine because than I just may get repeat visitors from their site. I have gotten comments from other Droppers who have read my posts for the same reason. I just don't waste my time with the mega-droppers.

(^^,) Hehe looks like you feel stress on entrecard dropping. Well 1st i was thinking same like you. But when i think back, if we cannot get click in high traffic like 100 visit per day, well we can still use ads which based on CPM to make money.

Well don't focus to much on dropping card it will make us tired to drop, like me i just drop when ever i like, try read blog when we drop card, i think we can get something to learn from other blog.

Well i just feel weird because you don't like entrecard but i come to this blog because of the advertise you make hehe...

I think it's depend on how people accept entrecard concept on advertising in their blog :) i get banned by entrecard long time ago because i don't manage my dashboard, well i use it back by sign-in again because i like to read other blog and drop card.

I am in full agreement with Roxanne, happy EC dropping everybody! :)

yeah i am tired of dropping too and i did not see my PR went up, and now it go back to 0 from 2..sigh

Hi! I agree with Roxanne too! Quality over quantity. Dropping cards a real tough job for me since I have a part time job and a growing tot to look after.

Don't think that Entrecard is not doing any good. hey! I've found your blog through EC!

I guess you just need to focus on good articles so people will want to go back and watch out for more. There are many kinds of readers, some just drop and run. Others take time to read first and look for interesting articles to read (like me).

And like what they say, you also have to put effort in creating relationship with your readers. I may only have 3 readers, but I regard them as treasures. They send in traffic too! return visits are important as well.

so true with that.. and I am as guilty as well.. I seldom read, just quick dropping.. but if something catch my attention such this, instead of leaving my usual comment :

EC dropping.. Have a wonderful weekend!

Make or Break

I really stop by and read the post..

as for me, I like dropping not for cash but for EC credits which I can use to join in promos and giveaways as a sponsor.. which in the long run can increase my link popularity (which I am so obsessed about lately)

again..

EC dropping.. Have a wonderful weekend!

LMAO

Make or Break

PS:DID you experienced the
followers glitch on your blog.

I just want to say that I am not getting rich from any of the programs I'm using, but I am building lasting relationships that I believe will pay big dividends in due time. It is a numbers game but not the kind most people are trying to develop. Thanks for the post. I see it got a lot of people thinking. Good job!

I use entrecard now just for filling a space on my blog and if I'm lucky I'll get some nice things to read and learn.
I once tried to drop 100 a day, but it's tiring and I didn't really get the gist of blogging...I missed some good blogs.
Now, I do blog hopping with Entrecard, it's funner than dropping 100-300 EC at a time imho.
Of course..I'm illiterate about SEO :-D
Happy blogging!!

I agree about needing to develop a relationship with at least 10 bloggers. At first, I tried to do a lot of dropping. Soon realized that I was not getting the quality traffic I wanted. Thank God for Akismet!

I still do some dropping on blogs that has an Entrecard widget and buy some ads. I reciprocate when someone drops on me.

There are definitely other ways to increase your traffic.

I joined entrecard because some friends told me that it has been great for increasing traffic, so I have given it a shot. I quickly realized from my analytics that drop and run was common. It did increase traffic, but not in the way that I wanted.

Now I treat the site more as social networking than really trying to drive traffic. I visit about ten to fifteen sites a day. I drop on most of them; I comment on only about half of them (I only comment when I have something to say- I hate the "great site" "thank you for posting" comments). I am hoping to find a few other bloggers who I like then build a relationship, so I am in sampling mode now.

I will give entrecard more time, but I may not stay with it, if it does not prove to generate better traffic. Funny thing is, I believe that entrecard would want its users to generate relevant visits.

I do a lot of dropping, but then I also do a lot of reading and commenting. I have made some wonderful friends who visit regularly and vice versa. It's true what the others say about building a relationship...
I don't understand Nr. 4 - why would Entrecard want to ban the popular blogs?

M said...

I disagree. I just stopped in from EntreCard and I'm here commenting. I see everyone's ads. The only time I do not comment is when the topic does not interest me.

Kathy said...

Yeah, but I found your blog through Entrecard. I wouldn't have found you otherwise.

I have not seen a lot of traffic to my store through entrecard. I have found some new sites and interesting people.

I continue to do it to learn and bring in a person to my blog or store now and then.

See, with entrecard, I try to drop on blogs I have interests in, that way if I see a post I like, I'll comment.

I only drop about 10 everyday and do try to leave some comments on the blogs I visit. But I guess some people are on a dropping campaign not bothering to read any blogs.

Entrecard has increased my Technorati authority, since many blogs have me listed as a top dropper and others have linked to my posts.

What a perfect post! I was just dropping EC on you when I saw your post.

You are so right, sometimes as much as you want to read, and forget about commnting, you have no more time because you want to drop as much cards as possible.

T.Z! said...

I drop on every blog that i see, however people visiting from EC, jsut want to drop so that they gian credits, the system itself is flawed.. and it sucks - i say this because when you are trying to create a community, comments, like this are a MUST.. i have had about 100 visits a week from EC, but not a single comment...

and tbh, even the EC admins state that the system is open to cheating....

so for until i can bring in decent readers, i must still rely on it as a "free" form of advertising..

T.Z! said...

btw, some people dont even accept or reject add placement, wasting TIME and holding up EC credits that can be used elsewhere.. i hope EC dudes fix this - but i dont see it changing...

Yes, I am another blogger who only found your site through EntreCard. EntreCard features over 20,000 blogs, but MOST of them are not active "droppers," so it is difficult to determine how many are just using EntreCard to discover new sites, sort of like "stumbling."

windi said...

Thanks, lots of great info and it's short and to the point. Nice! I'm new to entrecard so I'm still trying to get it all "understood!"

Thumbs up!

Good information, but I don't have to worry about being banned for being too popular. That will never happen with my sites... :)
